What |
FUSION is a group of young gay, bisexual and questioning
men, 18-29 years of age, having fun coming together to
create a community…for friendship, for health, for life.

|
Why |
Stopping the spread of HIV and reducing rates of
unprotected sex among young gay/bisexual men
continues to be a challenge for our community. Many
of the young gay/bisexual men who most need
effective HIV prevention services never show up at
the doorsteps of AIDS service organizations. These
young men may miss important and relevant HIV
prevention programs and messages.
THERE IS A SOLUTION…

Solution |
FUSION empowers young gay/bisexual men to shape a
healthy community, build social connections and
support safer sex practices.
Peer Lead and Peer Designed:
FUSION is run by a “Core Group” of young gay,
bisexual and questioning men from the community with
the support of two Project Coordinators. The Core
Group, along with other volunteers, design and carry
out all activities.
Project Space:
FUSION has its own location for the community of
young gay, bisexual and questioning men to meet
socially in a safe space that empowers them to be
themselves.
At the house the young men will hold Core Group
meetings to plan activities, host social and
outreach events, host M-Group sessions and much
more.
“I
feel that the house is the key to the empowerment of
young gay, bisexual and questioning men in the
community. Its their
house and their rules!”…Chris
Stevens
Formal Outreach:
Each month the Core Group and volunteers host a fun
and engaging event for the young gay, bisexual and
question men of the community. For example the Core
Group might decide to host a dance, pool party,
barbeque or other fun event. Within these events the
group is challenged to incorporate empowering
messages about safer sex practices and distribute
HIV prevention materials that they have developed
themselves.
